If, like me, you love getting into the spirit of Halloween - it is after all, a good excuse to have a party and wear fancy dress, which, post-uni becomes a bit of a rarity - but hate the thought of decorating your home with (probably badly in my case) carved orange pumpkins (orange will definitely never be the new black), cobwebs (why did I bother cleaning?!) and generally all things offensive to the eye, then you'll love some of the alternative halloween decoration and fancy dress ideas that you can find on Pinterest.
And as that time of year is fast approaching again (just a week to go!), and as it has been quite a while since my last one, I thought I would do another Five Faves Friday post and share with you five of my favourite classy halloween-related pins.
HERE ARE MY FIVE FAVES...
1. DIY Gold Geo No-Carve Pumpkins. No orange, no mess, just beautifully stylish pumpkins fit for any classy halloween party. Find the tutorial by Lovely Indeed here.
2. Spray Painted Branch with Candles. Not a DIY, but something that could quite easily be recreated. Find the idea, as well as others for a classy halloween, by Cupcakes and Cashmere here.
3. DIY Gold Leaf Pine Cone Garland. It's well and truly Autumn when Halloween comes around, so why not decorate your party with some season appropriate golden pine cones. Find the tutorial by The Sweetest Occasion here.
4. Black and White Halloween Desserts. How classy and lovely are these puddings! And a perfect little addition to a halloween party. Find the idea by Glorious Treats here.
5. Snow Queen Fancy Dress. And I'm not talking Elsa from Frozen here, I'm talking the Snow Queen from Hans Christian Andersen's dark and beautiful fairytale. Who says Halloween fancy dress has to involve blood and gore?! I found this gorgeous photo on Pinterest which unfortunately doesn't link to the source, however here is a great little video by Dorota Mua which shows how you how she created a similar look.
These just make me want to throw a Halloween party right now!
What do you think of these ideas?
Do you prefer a traditional Halloween or more of a modern one?
Happy Halloween! :)
