Repurpose your packaging with this easy cardboard star garland
Last year, having just moved into our new home a few weeks before Christmas, we were swimming in cardboard. I love the minimalistic and earthiness of cardboard, and so I decided to use some of it to make a simple star garland for our tree. We tend to have dark green, white and copper decorations on our tree, and so the cardboard stars coordinated perfectly. This was so easy to make, a fun one to perhaps make with little ones and I really like where you can see some of the print from the packaging on the stars. If you fancy making one yourself, keep reading for the step by step instructions!
Cardboard Boxes
Star Cutter
Scissors
String
Hot glue gun
Deconstruct your cardboard boxes so that you have flat pieces of card to draw on and cut.
Draw around your cookie cutter on the cardboard. Cover your cardboard in stars, as many as you like.
Carefully cut the stars out. I used a craft knife, but if you’re doing this with little ones you might want to use scissors.
Cut a length of string or nylon to your desired length and create a loop at each end. Secure these with knots.
Add some hot glue to the back of each star and stick them along the string.
