Throw yourself into Autumn with these quick and easy hand-painted glass candle votives!
Who else can’t wait for Autumn?! It’s still a few weeks away here and it’s actually still pretty warm and dry. As much as I do love the warmth (and being able to use our new garden!), I can’t wait for the changing colours of the leaves, the slight crispness in the air and being able to wrap up in jumpers, scarfs and hats. Inspired by the cactus glass votive I did a few years ago, I decided to kick off my autumn decor with this hand-painted candle votive. I’m all about candles in autumn and winter, so I’m really looking forward to lighting this and seeing the shadows that the leaf pattern creates. Keep reading to find out what I used and how I made them...
1.
First of all, give your glass votive a quick wash with some warm water and dry it thoroughly.
2.
Turn your votive upside down and using your paint brush and glass paint, start painting leaves around the base of the votive.
3.
Continue painting different sized and shaped leaves around the base of the votive.
4.
To create a falling effect, paint leaves in different directions below the leaves you’ve already painted on so that they are a little more spaced out.
5.
Continue all the way around, leaving the top of the votive clear. Finally, leave your votive to dry overnight.
