Perfect for Valentines or weddings, create these mini heart ring dishes from air-dry clay!
You know me, I love an air-dry clay project, and so when I had a bit of a creative block recently I thought I’d take it back to what I know and love. Clay ring dishes are nothing new to this blog, I’ve a couple in recent years, but I’ve never made a heart shaped one. After breaking one of my old ones recently I thought it was time that I made another one and seeing as though we aren’t that far off Valentines, I decided to go for a mini heart shape. I kept the colour palette pretty neutral, just a pop of metallic copper (obviously), to prevent it looking too sickly sweet. What colours would you have chosen? This was such a quick and easy project, the longest part of it was leaving it to dry. This really would make a such an easy but lovely DIY wedding favour, bridesmaid gift or gift for loved ones. Keep reading to find out what I used and for the step by step tutorial…
1.
First of all, break off some air-dry clay and roll it out using an acrylic roller until it is your desired thickness.
2.
Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out a heart shape carefully in the clay. Remove the excess clay.
3.
Use number or letter rubber stamps and press them firmly but carefully into the clay avoiding the outer edge of the stamp touching the clay to add some detail.
4.
Place your clay heart into a bowl to dry. This will give your clay dish the curved edges it needs.
5.
Once completely dry, sand the edges of the heart with a nail file or piece of sandpaper.
6.
Paint your heart white all over, and then add some colour to the edges and details with a metallic paint.
